Water water everywhere, not a drop to drink . Water is a basic human right ,yes it is, but do we actually care about it. There are still 1 billion people who do not have access to clean drinking water .is it justified ?
we're wasting it every day carelessly .we're not able to realize the difference between clean water and wastewater. We are regularly discharging waste ,Effluents into rivers, clean waters not realizing its impact in the future. Researches show that the next World war will be on water. Do you want this to happen ? yes or no? you shall answer.
Access to clean water is increasingly threatened by pollution ,privatization and climate change .we don't realize how important it is to our lifestyle that we use it every day . water contamination and environmental injustice overwhelmingly affect indigenious communities, people of color and poor .considering the situation of India people don't even know how to clean water taste because they never drink it. they drink water directly from rivers without cleaning them because they cannot afford it and due to the shortage of water none of the government cares . it's sad, it’s sad that how we don't realize the importance of such an important aspect and element of our life . During the pandemic we all were expected to wash our hands but what about those 1,000,000,000 people who do not even have water to drink, how can they take care of their hygiene ? how can they be safe from this virus ? did anyone think about it ?
I still know there are Lakhs (millions) of women who travel miles to go and fetch water and nobody considers their plight and nobody thinks about them . All they care is about building huge swimming pools which can feed a whole village. we don't care about water when brushing our teeth and showering . have you ever noticed the speed of your water tap ? I request you to go to your kitchen and check the water purifier. where is the wastewater going ? is it going directly to the sewage or are you reusing it to water the plants or keeping it for bathing. we don't realize how much water we're wasting each and everyday . Rainwater harvesting ,a very simple act,a very simple system . karela a city where each and every house has rainwater harvesting system and doesn't face any water shortage. Is it so difficult for us to implement it why can't we who can afford huge cars, bungalows , swimming pools can instill a rainwater harvesting system at home and reduce the surface runoff. Is it so difficult . A pro tip to give you all, always try to buy the native plants for others plant will require more water to grow whereas the native plants will not require much human intervention and will grow on their own .
Everybody wants to look good. DO you ever realize how much water it takes to create your clothes . This fast fashion is wasting the water at an unprecedented level . Do we care about it ? whenever we buy something, we cast a vote for it. We don't realize how harmful it is going to be for us. So let's be a little more sustainable and move towards thrifting and reusing our clothes and not allowing and not promoting the brands who recklessly use water for unnecessary things.
Radha, my 30 year old home keeper once told me her story . She told how lucky I am to have water facilities at my home. She told how much miles she had to travel to go and fetch water for family members and every time they get the water, they think as if they have got GOLD. This is importance of water . Radha once told me that she got her daughter drop out of school so that she can travel every day miles away for three hours to fetch water so that they can continue their lifestyle. Now you tell me, Is it justified that a little girl loses her dreams, a little girl quits her school to go and fetch water when we are wasting it recklessly without realizing its importance.
Go to your toilet and check for any leaks, you don't realize how much you're wasting it unless you go and check. Put a bottle in your toilet tank .P ut an inch or two of sand or pebbles in the bottom of one liter bottle to weigh it down . Fill the rest of the bottle with water and put it in your toilet tank safely away from the operating mechanics. In an average home ,the bottle can save 5 gallons and more of water every day without harming the efficiency of the toilet. If your tank is big enough you may even be able to put in 2 bottles. I request all of you to please take shorter showers as the amount of water you waste in showering can fetch 50 children in a village without watering. How amazing these facts are ! I request you to take small baths. A partial filled tub uses less water than all with the shorter showers. Tturn off the water while brushing your teeth ,a very easy step which we all can. Turn off the water while shaving,for our fathers and men listening to this . Check faucets and pipes for leaks. Use your automatic dishwasher for full loads only. Keep a bottle of drinking water in the refrigerator , this puts a stop to the wastewater practices of running tap water to cool it for drinking . I request you to rinse your vegetables instead in a bowl or sink full of clean water. Water your lawn only when it needs. Please don't overwater it. don't water the gutter. Position your sprinkler so that water lands on your lawn or garden ,not in areas where it does not work. Also avoid watering on windy days when much of the water may be carried off to the streets and sidewalks . Don't run the hose while washing your cars. Soap down your car from a pail of soapy water use a hose only to rinse it off.See, so easy we can save the world .All you need is to take a step forward .
Each action of yours counts. Never think small actions will not lead to big changes ,yes they will !

All we need is courage and a decision, unity to move together and a little bit of compassion for our fellow people. Guess what I thought the same but when I realized that each and every action of mine leads to a huge impact on my society, I changed my thought. I was too young when I realized that our environment is so precious. I gathered the courage to make everybody aware about our environment and become environment conscious. I was in school when I gathered four to five friends of mine taught them abo
ut water ,how we can save water and various simple easy measures we can in our day to day lives. I taught them and then organized a huge session in which my friends and I taught the rest of the school and within a few days we were able to aware everybody about how precious the water is ! thank you.
